The common housing economic problem in the 21st century is characterized by the need for constant adaptation, not only for older buildings but also for homes that require redesigns to meet the evolving needs of growing families. These families often prefer investing in renovations rather than moving to more suitable places.
The project is designed to be renovated in three phases. The first phase involves constructing a garage roof to protect the family's automobiles. The second phase extends the rooms above the garage, and the final phase creates a roof terrace to enjoy the stunning mountain landscape surrounding the house.
The design features an elongated façade that eliminates the need for intermediate columns, framing the upper rooms. This supports expansion and redistribution while protecting against the strong southwest sun without obstructing the view of the landscape in front of the house.
Phase 1: A covered garage is built using a large beam system and a sturdy frame to support the load of the rooms above. This space accommodates three parking spots, shielding automobiles from constant sun exposure and hail damage. Additionally, it enhances privacy and adds elegance to the front façade.
Phase 2: The second floor rooms will be extended forward, allowing each room to have a walk-in closet. The existing hallway bathroom for the secondary rooms will be converted into a storage room, while the TV room will be transformed into a visitor's bathroom with modern equipment, utilizing the increased square footage from the new façade. The right secondary room will have its own bathroom and a semi-open loggia to improve ventilation, protect against the harsh sun, and enhance security without losing the view of the mountain range. The master bedroom at the back of the house will be reconfigured, extending the façade to the right to accommodate a larger, well-equipped bathroom and a significantly expanded walk-in closet.
Phase 3: Using the existing staircase, an extension will be added to access the new terrace floor, which will include a TV lounge, a gym, a battery room, a boiler room, and a bathroom. This new block will divide the house terrace into private and non-private areas, offering views of the Cerro de la Silla mountain behind and the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range in front.
