Located on the arid southern hillside of the Sierra del Fraile mountain, alongside the highway to Icamole, the plot is exposed to high winds, sand dust, and harsh sunlight. Despite these challenges, the site offers captivating desert landscapes, characterized by their hot and alluring dreamlike quality.
Nestled at the foot of the Sierra del Fraile mountain, adjacent to the Camino a Icamole highway, the project contends with the hot daytime winds, the chill of the nighttime breeze, and the relentless sunlight that sweeps from south to west. Despite the harsh desert conditions, the project aims to enhance the user's experience in an enjoyable and distinctive manner.
The design comprises three blocks strategically positioned across the plot. These blocks serve to delineate private from social and highlighted activities. The two volumes at the southern front align conveniently with the street, serving their social purpose. In contrast, the private block rotates 45 degrees to the north, avoiding a natural formation of rocks. This orientation enables it to catch northeast winds that sweep along the sides of the mountain, while also distancing itself from the other volumes for privacy. Additionally, this rotation expands the site's views of the magnificent landscape.
The first and second blocks encompass the public areas, including the kitchen, living room, bar, pool, and other services. These spaces are designed to be rented for special events upon request. In contrast, the third block comprises private spaces such as the family room and bedrooms, exclusively for the owners' use. These private areas are separated from the public blocks, ensuring privacy during social gatherings in the first and second blocks. The placement of each block is carefully determined based on their views of the mountain and the need to avoid exposure to southern and western sunlight.
